There are enough folks regurgitating what "the experts" told them. Since when were we not supposed to question professors, theologians, preachers, teachers, and "statements of faith"? Be a life-long student. Surround yourself with others who are willing to engage in respectful, unashamed Q & A. If you're not convinced in your heart, dig deeper, keep seeking, keep asking. Never disregard Scriptures which seem to contradict your pet doctrines. Be objective, always desiring for Truth to trump a position which you'd prefer to reinforce. Study the original language, context, culture, and audience. Above all, let the Holy Spirit be your primary Teacher.
At the end of the day, if you're not convinced about something and can't skillfully articulate your position...be willing to say, "I'm not sure." or "I don't know." We must also be willing to embrace mystery, through His assurance in our hearts, trusting Him to reveal what really matters in our "NOW".
